Spring Fling (photos)

Here are some photos from this event:

“Spring Fling 2011” Date: 16/03/2011

Organizing spring fling was really difficult and we had many problems along the way. At some point we thought that it won't even happen. But still we managed to get our act together and it turned out to be pretty good. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The decorations were great, there was a lot of space and also a pretty good DJ. So, it wasn't as bad as we expected. We organized it all ourselves. We made the tickets and we went to other schools to distribute them.
It felt pretty amazing, in the end, when we knew that all of it was organized and done by us. : ))

Babysitting at the Radisson Hotel

As I already mentioned before, we went to provide babysitting service during  Christmas fair and Sheraton Hotel. After about two months we went to Radisson hotel to provide same services. It was really hard to look after kids, especially small ones. They cried all the time and wanted their mummy. So, it was really hard to look after them, but also a lot of fun too.
We played with them, showed then some cartoons and paid attention so that they wouldn't leave the place. It was an amazing experience with kids.

MUN conference in Rome (photos)

It was the best trip ever, during which we explored the beautiful city of Rome, gained experience and met new people. Here are some of the photos from the trip:

MUN conference in Rome Date: 25/03/2011-1/04/2011

We went for MUN to Rome for a week and it as the best experience I have ever had. We met so many international students and have of them were doing IB DP program. The conference was not too big, but it was great. It was mostly run by us and we all spoke and wrote resolutions and participated in debates. It was a great way to improve our language and presentation skills. Next year we are planning on doing a small conference in Tbilisi. We want to organize it by yourselves, because it is the best experience a student can have.

Volleyball

We had less practices for volleyball, then we had for basketball, but still we managed to win the friendly match with QSI. There were no other teams compiting so we just had one match with QSI and we won it. We were really happy to win and to be honest we never thought that we would win, because we weren't well prepared. But still we did win and it was amazing. We had to juniours in our teams and four seniours, including myslef. So, this year we had real success in sports. We got third place on Basketball and we won volleyball.

Providing babysitting service for an event, held at the Sheraton Hotel

During Chirstmas bazaar which was in Sheraton we were looking after the children. We were playing with them some games, wathcing after them. There were a lot of children to look after and the place was unorganized, because there were some other kids facepainting and doing other stuff, but still we managed to keep kids under control.
They all were very cute and full of energy. Me and others made a snowball for them from balloons and they were kicking it around the place. They had so much fun and so did we. We were really tired at the end of the day, but still really happy that we did it.

Teaching English at the orphanage Date: 14/11/10_25/12/10

Every week we went to this orphanage where we brought clothes and taught English to little children. It was an amazing experience. We went there for about a month and we taught them the alphabet and some words. We also brought them some presents and played with them. They really liked the lessons and sometimes didn't want to leave.
Lessons were on every Tuesday for an hour and at first we wen through all the letters slowly. We taught for or five letters a day and then the words that began with that letter. We also taught them how to pronounce some words.

Charity fair (COATS) photos

Here are some of the photos, which I took:

Charity fair (COATS) Date: 13/10/10_21/10/10

We had a charity fair at our school, where everyonoe had to bring old clothes and then we could go and give it to the orphanage and to children who needed it. We collected a lot of clothes and then some of us, mostly children from student council went to the orphanage and helped children to choose and take their size clothes with them.
It felt really good helping them. I met one little girl who was really cute and shy and when I asked wheather she like the dress or shirt which I showed her she just nodded all the time. She was really cute and really happy when she got all the clothes she needed.

MUN project (Gender equality) Date: 11/10/10_21/10/10

We made our own MUN conference in school with the topic of Gender equality and it was really interesting. The fact that we ourselves, made this conference work was awesome. We had everything organized, we even had a speaker come and speak about MUN.
The topic was well chosen and concentrated on the issue that is relevant in today's world. We debated a lot, even fought and it was really interesting.
We have MUN as an after school activity and we have it every week. We even went to Turkey last year to a big conference and we hope that next year we can organize and do one in Tbilisi. It is a great experience and great place to meet new people.

Basketball photos

photos taken during basketball tournament : ))

Basketball Date: 1/10/10-20/10/10

We had a tournament this year with QSI and other international schools from Azerbaihjan and we won third place. We practiced for a moth approximetly, maybe a little bit more for a month and two weeks. We couldn't beat any of the teams from azerbaihjan, but we defeated QSI so we got third place.
It was really hard to compete, because other teams were really good, but still we did win one game.
We also played it previous year and we couldn't win any games, so this year we were a lot better. We have improved and next year we will win even more games.

Student Council Decorating recycle boxes Date: 6/10/10 _15/08/11

So, we had this task in student council do decorate recycle boxes for school and we each had to bring one box. By this we promoted recycling and protected environment. I am not an artist, but still I managed to somehow decorate and draw on it and write that recycling is good. One of my friends wrote this "turn trash into cash" and I really liked this quote.
Recycling is really turning trash into cash and this is what we were trying to do. We were trying to promote recycling in our school. : ))

Survey on environmental concerns Date: 8/09/10

We were given surveys with questions about environment, which then we had to distribute to people. We went to Rustaveli Avenue. It turned out, that most of the people didn’t care about environment or maybe they were just too lazy to answer us. From like fifty people we could only get four surveys done.
While comparing results we made few conclusions, such as: when asked about the renewable energy source most of them said only sun or water. Also, most of them thought that Georgia wasn’t doing anything to protect its environment. There were few changes made this year: cutting trees and haunting was banned. Another thing that we understood, is that almost everyone thinks that money is more important then their own health. Because, they said that if they had a good paid job, then it would be easy to work in conditions badly for their health. We also asked whether they know which part of Georgia is more safe and tidy and they all said districts. They think, that city center is always more polluted then the districts. People think that most dangerous for environment is: pollution, deforestation and global warming. Also, we asked about water, whether it’s clean in here or not and they said that it is really clean compared to other countries. These entire things that I wrote about are little details, but in general we saw that people really want Georgia to be clean and more environmentally friendly. They also said that they would support recycling and other things good for our environment!
